I am thinking of getting some frontosa , well when i say thinking i will be soon as i start spending more time at home. I have read alot of stuff on the net about different variants eg "7 bar" "Zaire blue" "burundi" etc i was wondering what are the options in Perth or even interstate if they are better? What is best? i will be buying a group of juvies to try and get a colony. I would be interested in peoples views who have bred and kept them for a while.:cheers

its all 6's and 7's

if you do this you wont be disapointed, in the short term or the long run:
a) assume all 6 bar in Australia are Burundis price wise
cool.gif 7 bar are 7 bar.

no offence to anyone. You can pay extra for Zaire, Zambia, Mpwimbwe or whatever... that's your call... just saying down the road... when your Fronts breed... there will be a lot more knowledge out there.

Hope this helps u!!:good

www.cichlid-rum.com/artic...corner.php

As you can see Only 2 types are available in Australia

So if you get told that you can get zaire, mpimbwe etc
cause you don't know the source of these fish or even see the parents ...8o
They could be X or colour feed 6 bar burundi or just rich coloured individuals etc etc

If you did get these fish offerd to you expect to pay $700 + each and be mindfull that you might get fish worth $15 -$20

Good luck and hope this clears up things :good

Nice fish mate,
I dont think youd have a problem with Lelupi with your Fronts,I have Blockheads,& Brichardi with mine,& they dont seem to notice them (theyre well fed).Fronts are supposed to be nocturnal, and sneak up on their prey, but our captive bred ones sleep at night and couldnt be bothered actually persuing something.well thats my Fronts I cant speak for anyone elses.
hth:good

Fully, when I first got em I read they were pisciverous, and nocturnal so I put a few of my yellow fry that needed to be culled in,and a month later the fry were still cruzin.
