to celebrate new years day one of my electric blues dived out of my tank (first fish to do that since I set it up a few months ago)

dad called me up and said it was "cork-screw swimming" and going upside down and such and all the other fish were attacking it, he wanted to flush it to put it out of its misery but couldn't find where I kept my net, he waited an hour and it was still all stuffed up, then another hour later the fish was fine :)

Its been perfectly healthy since, good thing dad couldn't find my net! :lol

Please tell your dad not to flush fish to put them out of misery
it could live for days down there.

HAPPY NEW YEAR

Yeah i've heard of people going to flush fish, and the fish didnt seem to actually go up the tube, and they were found hours later when someone went to the toilet, alive.

yeh I was thinking that... :lol

what is the best way to put them out of their misery though, years ago I heard someone to say put them in an ice cream container in the freezer, freezing to death doesn't sound nice to me though!

People are divided on this one but the two most common seem to be freezing or a quick knock to the head on the bench.. Myself i use the Freeze in cases ive deemed all hope to be lost.. some would agree with me some wouldnt..

Its hard to physically killed a loved fish. If they're gonna die, let them die. i dont think putting them out of misery is a good thing because the will to live is so much stronger than we think, and i guess fish have it also. if i have to kill a fish, i bump its head to stun it and feed it to my dogs, it seems cruel but they are stunned and 1 bite from my dog will kill them, better than freezing to death! or boiling like a crab!
