I had the ali left from anouther job so it was free biggrin.gif

Somebody already paid for it 8O but they wernt riped of far from it 8O

I plan to put a 3 foot on a shelf underneath biggrin.gif

Wanted a 4x4x2 and when i saw the background for sale i bought it (thanks aquatic dreams or should i say AZ top bloke thanks mate biggrin.gif ) so then i went ahead and got the tank

Also have some 3mm ali plate left from the same job so im thinking i will use it to make the hood nice and light biggrin.gif

How strong are Tig up against seams of Mig? Or even good old stick welding?

I am doing a stand out of mild steel SHS (square hollow section) and i am miging it as the tig drives me crazy as i suck at it biggrin.gif My welds are mabey 7/10 and getting better but i just grind over them any way biggrin.gif

Bennyboy is also making a 4x2x2 as he might have said recently and it is been powder coated soon it think.

Tig is much stronger than mig on alloy (genraly) because it is much cleaner biggrin.gif

As for steel Mig Tig and stick are prety much the same if done correctly unless you go for lo hyd stick rods but well over the top for what you are doing biggrin.gif

With the mig that u are using is it gassles wire or solid?

What you have to be cearfull with is cold welds where you dont melt the 2 parts you are joining called cold lapping biggrin.gif

A good thing to do is grind back the area you are welding to bare steel ie dont weld over paint, scale or galvanising unless you know what you are doing biggrin.gif

you can se the parent metal melting when you know what to look for but that comes with experince biggrin.gif

Hope that helps

If you have any outher questions fell free to ask and i will try to help you biggrin.gif

Let me ad this if you are welding galv tube with mig your best bet is gassles wire just be careful of the fumes as they are acidik not to meantion the cadimoun in the galv gives you the symptoms of the flu 8O
if you breath to much of it in 8O not nice trust me

And drinking milk does not help 8O
