Scientific Name: Metriaclima hajomaylandi
Pronunciation: Met-ri-a-cli-ma hey-yo-may-landee
Trade Name(s): Hajomaylandi, Hajo
Distribution: Chizumulu Island
Habitat: Sediment rich rocky areas at approximately 5 to 20 mtrs
Diet: Mainly plankton & Aufwuchs
Sexing: Males are more stunning in coloration. Females have a yellow tinge to the fins.
Maximum Size: Approx 13 for M & 9-10 for F
Temperature: 24 to 26c
pH: 7.5 to 9.0
Water Hardness: 300 - 400ppm
Availability: Not common in Oz.
Comments: Not one of the more popular Mbuna which is unfortunate as the males are stunning in breeding dress.
