To each their own on The Race/religion Argument... It Has raged since Ancient History In One Form Or Another You Folkes Wont Change Anyones Minds On The Matter. Surely Though A friendly, Open Fishkeeping Forum Is Not The Place For Such Potentially Volatile Discussion.
Yes There Is Such A Thing As Free Speech But Remember There Are Kids And People Of Other Races And Religious Beliefs reading These Posts... Surely Our Kids Should Be Able To Access These Forums Without Being Exposed To This Debate.
Whats More If People Want To Throw Out Facts Then Reference Them, give People The Opportunity To Examine The "Evidence" In The Correct Context. Dont Base An Argument On Rumour And unsubstantiated Claims That May Not Have been Reported In Even Close To The Right Context.

I find this post the most intriguing in the whole thread. Did you systematically press shift at the start of every word? Or is it some sort of glitch on your phone? I have seen a few people post like this and it is something that I "have to know"!

If you dislike or despise people of a religion/race/skin colour etc. then think that in your head. Don't come onto a forum which hundreds of people use and blab on about your problem for people to get offended by it. It is more than likely that some people would've come on here and be offended by people's ill mannered insults to there religion/skin colour/ race etc.

well technically someone could argue that islam is a cult and none of the above that you have stated big red terror apply :)

but hey thats why its called off the wall - the heading says it all... your opinion is appreciated as is everybody elses... :)

if we remove religion, culture, race, skin colour etc from every post on the forum it would make it very boring....

perhaps next time i post and i have the slightest suspicion that someone maybe offended i will title it "donot read if your offended by this topic" then you have nothing to complain about ??? is that fair :)

I wasn't going to bother coming back on this forum never mind reply to the some of the responses but curiosity got the better of me I guess. I'm not going to throw in quotes etc to refute but I think I will first approach the issue of "free speech,"  and "this is off the wall, any non fish related subjects are fair game."

I 100% agree with free speech. But it doesn't apply to saying what you want, whenever you want, wherever you want. Our members or users who have far right views should be able to express their views on their own blogs, participate in forums of a far right ilk and express those opinions in general public. I obviously find their opinions simplistic, paranoid and ill informed, but if they were prevented by the government from reasonably expressing these opinions I would be one of the first to stand up and say "Free speech," and fight for their rights. But in a society that values free speech, I still can't go into my workplace and say the things I have seen on this forum. Despite this section of the forum being "Off The Wall," it is still part of the Perth Cichlid Society. If there is not a section of the T and C's that covers racial and religious villification then you probably need to remove the "Society" part of the title and alter the criteria of membership to "white, christian anglo saxons need only apply." Look, I know some of that was a little flippant but I hope you guys get where I am coming from.

Kleinz, I appreciate you adding a little intelligent humour to the topic. The way you gently stir the pot and sit back and watch the results was one of the things I used to enjoy about this part of the forum. However, I'm genuinely not sure if you are taking the piss in a lot of what you are saying as I've never met you. Where you ask should we be protecting the sensibilties of Nazi's, as a random example; I'm just not sure if I should address this for fear I'm just falling into your web. I will anyway, as I think hidden amongst the sarcasm and humour there was a tinge of seriousness to what you said. Members of the German National Socialist Party probably don't really exist any more. If you are referring to White Supremacists or Neo Nazis who generally target anybody in society who is not of Anglo Saxon white descent and are generally quite extreme in their views in relation to a violent solution to racial segregation, well no, I don't think we should be protecting their feelings or sensibilities. I think we should be very much challenging them. They are an extremist group. There's no such thing as a moderate or non-practising Neo-Nazi/white supremacist unlike, for example, a Jew, Christian or Muslim. I don't think we should let them, say for example, spout their hate on an all inclusive forum like this one, but conversely I certainly don't think we should be imprisoning them for what they think or say.

As for scientologists, another very different example you gave, I don't see them getting attacked on this forum. If it were the case and I felt Scientologist kids were getting on here hoping to find a cure for white spot and getting exposed to what I have been reading in relation to their culture and beliefs, well I would be embarrassed and offended. I'm sorry if this is too serious a response to your comparisons.

You also mentioned religious/racial/cultural prejudice. I usually find they reside together. Just ask the aforementioned Nazis.

You asked why I get offended. I hope I have helped you see why I get offended, perhaps why others might and why I think this Perth Cichlid Society "Off The Wall" Section needs to be a bit more sensitive to who might be looking to be a part of our "society."

I, for one, love "retarded" posts and the way Kleinz and many others respectfully respond to them. However, I don't think much of what I'm referring to falls into that category.

Thanks to others who have given me some faith in our "society." Sorry to others with whom I'm just not even going to bother.

Take care

Pat

I agree with you...
I think its everyone's choice to read it. If you don't like it dont read it. Also maby some members need to grow up. If you let it get to you its your own problem. Some people get afended over things they had choice to see or read. If a few people disagree with pcs and its people then go on Google? Or even better real life. When people say something I don't like its normally best to let is slide.
This is just my opinion so feel free to rip a insult or comment back lol. But its all good. Cheers

seems pat you've been told a very logical solution to your problem by a 16 year old :)

if you dont like a topic then no-one is forcing you to read it :)

from your above post you talk about nazis and extremists.... in your valid opinion how would you describe the people that carried out 911... flying domestic aircraft into buildings in the U.S.A. ???

heres a link to wikapedia - if you could be offended by a list of terrorist attacks that have occured in the world please donot click on the link... i dont expect this to be removed by anyone as it states history and has no bias opinions in it... it is continually being updated and i find the information to be as close to the truth as possible...

Actually  Johnno, that list is kind of crap. Most of the attacks on that list are only different because they were carried out by people with no air force.

Are these attacks characterised by being carried out for islam or just by people who were islamic? We don't call them "Jewish air strikes", or "Catholic squad manoeuvres", do we? Is there a similar list of Israeli (Jewish) terrorist attacks? There were rather a lot in the early days of Palestine/Israel.

Barking up entirely the wrong tree with this one. Also, I was the one who brought in Nazis as a rhetorical device, but noone got it. :(

You cannot say people are not legitimate refugees if we have helicopter gunships shooting up the country they came from. Fair dinkum.

Also, while I respect the right of people to say what is on their mind, in my humble opinion there is no need to start 6 separate threads about islam/refugees/our way of life/naked Qld fish and chip shop owners calender/straya! (which could really all be merged anyway) That does kind of make the board look like the hills branch of the Pauline Hanson Admiration Society, who coincidentally have an interest in fish...Imagine if I started 8 threads about air conditioners. Once I had started off one about Fujitsu, then Carrier and Mitsubishi and a separate one again for Samsung, all including clips of nutbags from youtube passionately reeling off made up facts about why home grown aircon ( When I was a kid, we only had evaporative! It was fine and it was all we needed!) was morally superior, people might start to wonder where they were.

Now go and have a Bex and a lie down, there's a good chap. :)

But if they did have a air force then the attacks might be worse.

hey kleinz some mediocre points there... but is it right for you to drive your car and t-bone the drunk driver that t-boned you ? one wrong doesnt demand you do another wrong to correct it does it ?

how far back in history do you want to go to see who threw the first stone.... stonings have been known to take place in the above mentioned religion/ideology so it wouldnt surprise me if they threw the first stone.... but thats not important now...

if someone could get all the heads of governing bodies in the world in one place this is what i'd tell them to do... firstly everybody put your weapons down... now everybody go back to your own country of origin... now everybody forget what has happened and look after your own back yard...

technology today allows one country to wipe another off the face of the planet - with environmental holocaust to follow.. so everybody needs to respect everybody else and remember we all breathe the same air....

like seperating 2 bullies at school.. you face into that corner and you face into the opposite corner and dont move... :) :) :)

as for 5 identical posts kleinz just trying to put some life into the forum... and only you could link them all into one topic... at least we are keeping the alzheimers at bay using our brains :)

i much prefer to make comment on something other than bitch about what someone else has to say on the topic as this tends to end up in a personal slinging match {personal attacks}

I stated in the topic in question, That religion should and has nothing to do with it by most Australians, We don't care what colour you are or religion, But we do have our own culture and laws that should be followed by if you wish to live in Australia. Saying that.... the moderator responding to the topic was dragging religion into it any chance he could get, In fact I got sick of reading the religious comments and stopped replying to that topic all together. I kinda of agree to the original post of this topic, Religion is sacred to those who wish to believe in it, and no one should be telling them what they can and can't believe in, Don't be fooled into thinking religion had anything to do with the point in case for that topic. It was classic example of discrimination against what this particular little girl believed in. but for the most of the original post of this topic I think some one needs to take a spoon full of cement and harden up.

:ThanxSmiley: for your comments.....

i totally agree religion should be kept behind closed doors and kept to themselves... but it is very obvious the new immigrants have no intention of doing this... well i think everybody knows what my opinion is... its up to everybody to make up their own minds and consider how its going to effect their kids future...

(hopefully this is not from secret embedded messages) you never know "who said that"

Come on people it is an "off the wall forum" and just because some ONE person complains about a comment means that it should be deleted it is after all one persons opinion and regardless of anyone else's opinion on what has been said we can complain about it but you can't silence someone for having an opinion.

Anyway I have to go and lay down I think someone has put poison on my iPad keypad and it is slowly being absorbed I am getting sleeeepy caannt stay awak the bastars got mere run save yoursellfff aarrggghhh
