o I came home from working out of town this week and the male horei is looking pretty flash chasing the other fish around a bit and nudging the female. Went out for a while this morning and came back to catch the fish post spawn.

Cool looking male and looks like a full gob too. How's the fry raising going? You said a little while back you weren't having much luck.

I agree Kim, they are very striking in breeding dress. My male doesn't maintain it for very long but still holds all the red dots and blue and green markings. The black patterning on the females is also pretty cool.

I have no problems with raising fry any more. I have learned to get the holding female out of the main tank before she spits and now its almost a 95% survival rate

Lol, that's what I'm doing too with similar results. Funny how we both got to he same solution without talking to each other :)

Last one I had was 17 but they are still young. I think once fully mature the brood size will average 40-50 going by what others have told me

The fry I currently have growing out number about 30 and all came from the one mouthful, before that I had another 26-30 fry from the same female. They are quite prolific once they get into a rhythm.

She is between 8 and 9 cm.  You should see her when she is a few days off spitting, she can barley hold her mouth closed it's that full.

A mate of mine here breeds them.

From memory they have quite large mouthfuls.

Perfect demonstration of how nice the males will look when fully grown, thanks for sharing Ronny.
