I was having a look through other posts about the onset of banning Grey List species from Australia and this got me thinking.
I am planning on moving to the NT within 10 months and am keen on taking some of my more prized collection with me.
6x Frontosa's
4x Severums
1x Oscar
I went to their government site
http://www.nt.gov.au.....0Noxious Fish
and started to read through the Noxious and Banned List for the NT, the usual Noxious species are there, then I started to read through the Banned list, first on the list, Astronotus Ocellatus - "Oscar", I though ok, no worries, I'll have to give up my Oscar "Ted", he's been with us for years and I'll be sad to see him go.
Then, 3 down the list, Cyphotilapia frontosa!!! My Heart Sank, I cant believe that I have to give up my colony of Frontosas.
Why the hell are Frontosa's banned in the NT, of all the other Cichlid species....Frontosa...Whyyyyyyyyyyy
I wrote them an email..........not an angry one, just want to know why!
I Have To Give Up My Frontosa's!!!

Thats no good, mate!
I'm no expert by any stretch of the imagination, but I guess the further north you go in Australia, the more likely it is that tropical fish released into the wild will survive. The aggressive nature of oscars is understandable but I'm not sure of the behavious/habbits of frontosa's...Are they highly territorial/aggressive? The obviously get quite large as well (about a foot?).

Yeah, but off the top of my head I could rattle off worse....
Red Devils
Synspilum
Jaguar
Dovii
Flowerhorn
Other people may have other opinions, but to me Frontosas are pretty Docile compared to the above.
Sorry, I'm abit emotional at the moment

I dont want to make light of your situation, as it is a shame you will have to get rid of your prized fish but think of it this way you can keep a juvi crocodile in a tank at home
