As the title says I'm looking to put a single species colony in my 6ft tank, not really interested in the standard fish and I'm looking for something a little different.. Any suggestions for a species we dont have a lot of here in Perth?

Cheers

riggers - why not try something different like a REALLY low pH fish? Something totally different. Invest in a RO water system and get the pH right down and try something cool like Nanochromis transvestitus

nvrenuf - if you're after big frontosa, AAA had 4 really nice ones for sale on the weekend. Pretty good price too.
A sweet colony of fronties @ Aquotix (possibly the best I've ever seen) are sold..... sad.gif otherwise they would have been cool to get

My new display is about 6 weeks away still so I'll look harder closer to that time and do the ring around

To many fronties in perth need more sandsifter and feather fins, easy to source from the east and the importers but you just got to be willin to spend the money and the challange in keeping them!

Go tranvestite then Nick. A couple of 2 inch fish would look great in a 6 footer laugh.gif

"less is more" poncho
a colony would look cool, and wouldn't it be easier to control the pH in a bigger tank?

Dude... L046 are a lay down misère! Tricky buggers...special diet...soft acid water...and nowhere near enough of them in Perth, IMHO.

Yay for Hypancistrus L046! Cheap dazzle ships for the masses!

Failing that I thought the Astatotilapia nubila were quite striking.

The Enantiopus melanogenys Namansi were nice, but I bet when not randy they just look like whitebait!

Riggers i second the Lo46's you breed these and you will never have to go back to work. What about a nice peacock colony (Aulonocara stuartgranti, Hongi Island, Tanzania ) Good luck trying to source them cos i've had no luck. cheers Steve brickwall.gif
