If you want a colony of fish that people look at and say "Oh, so what colours do they get when they grow up?" get a Tang.
As an added bonus, when you upload a photo you get to tell everyone the camera doesnt do the fish justice tongue.gif
That is Tang keepers speak for check out my silver fish.

As the title says I'm looking to put a single species colony in my 6ft tank, not really interested in the standard fish and I'm looking for something a little different.. Any suggestions for a species we dont have a lot of here in Perth?

Cheers

Have a look on some of the import lists see if anything takes your fancy.
How about a colony of goby's very interesting to watch.

There's nothing boring about discus ray, you're just a discus lover in denial. A goby tank would be cool. I was thinking about doing one for a while there, but decided that tangs would be more exciting since I've never kept tangs or malawis before. A brackish tank for that angelfish of yours would be another good idea too. That brown vallis can grow in a brackish environment too. Terry can sort you out with some. I asked the question in this thread a while back --> CLICKY CLICKY!!!. Gobys and brown vallis, SORTED!!!!!!

oh I'm talking about a different type of goby poster_oops.gif

sorry but fronties dont do it for me, they are nice fish but there are to many around in aus and perth, i would prefer to let the guys breeding them breed/keep them rather than try compete, fishlips has plenty and there are a few others.......thats why i said about sandsifters and featherfins

http://www.cichlid-f...egory.php?cat=8 = Feather fins
http://www.cichlid-f...gory.php?cat=13 = Sandsifters maily toward the bottom of the page

breeding/ selling the fry which is not just why i keep fish, i find that ppl are already keeping and breeding different types of fish, yet no one brings in the harder more expensive fish.

So it looks like based on sheer criteria, L046 are still the frontrunners, then smile.gif
