Diy Tank

17 January 2012 - 10:48 AM

After looking at riggertron's diy tank build i thought how hard can it "really" be ? I already had the glass cut but have been putting it off for ages... (not wanting to mess it up).. but this morning i got myself some sellys glass laid all the pieces out took a deep breath and started to run the beads of silicon,I put theback and one side together then the other side , the the first side fell off ohmy.gif ,but after puting that side up againput the front on squeezed it al together and wrapped it like 5 times with tape and sealed the inside . (my silicon work needs a bit of practice) tomorrow i will put the bracing in and hopefully my new 3"x1.25x1.5" actually holds water !!! all in all i think it went ok but i guess ill find out in a couple of days:)

Diy Canister Setup

13 January 2012 - 10:36 AM

Hi guys,
I got bored yesterday and decided to make a makeshift tank setup using a canister filter from one of those wading pool filters you get from kmart for like 100bucks, iveput bioballs course pads and some ceramic tubes instead of the paper type filter it comes with and am currently going to try a fishless cycle with it .. has anyone tried this before ? ill post pics when its painted and pretty. (i had to make a hood as they have very big hoses)

Ryan

my staffy busted the pool so i had the filter lying around and am using it in a 80l tank rather than a 3000l pool its got impressive water flow!!!! lol
