Hey Anka

I'm liking the aquascaping and the soil look of the ADA New Amazonia compared to the usual sand/gravel.

Do u have any photos of the plumbing entering the tank prior to stocking?

Hey Dazza,

Thanks mate. I like the ADA soil as well - bit pricey though.

Umm what specifically are you referring to? What the plumbing looks like in the tank? Or underneath in the cabinet? The only equipment viewable in the tank is the inlet and outlet for the plumbing, and the seneye monitor. Everthing else is hidden.

I'm looking at calibrating the peristatic pump so I can do more accurate and frequent fert dosing. I tried to do it inline but it was too hard sad.gif

Cheers

Andrew

Edit: Oh you mean what the plumbing looks like in the tank before I planted it?

Nope sorry (what an anti-climax) sad.gif

Is there any specific reason why you were after the shot?

I'm looking at plumbing a tank and keen to see what people are doing in regards to placement, hiding etc.

I'll take some more detailed pics of my plumbing on the weekend.

The way I've set it up the filters pump water out of the tank. Water changes are as easy as clicking the hose in, turning some valves, pumping water out. Turning off filter, turning valves (reroute water to bypass filters), take off hose, turn valves and then turn on filters.

Easy.

It's looking nice. However Id like to see you differentiate the foreground from midground from background. Would give your scape a better sense of depth smile.gif

Hi Craig,

Thanks for the feedback.

Particularly what would you have done? As in, given my plants what would you do?

Also, can you recommend specific changes or purchases of other plants?

Thanks

Anka

I disagree with craige I think the tank looks great and I know what your saying to craige I'm a landscaper but not all landscapes need a teared effect there sometimes needs to be some blending to help the whole thing look realistic. Cheers.

First thing would be to get rid of the swords at the front. Then if you want to keep the hairgrass, separate it into much smaller groups. This will encourage it to send out runners and more quickly cover the base.

Id love to see some Blyxa or Staurogyne on the left side in the gap under the driftwood.

Have a look here for ideas: http://showcase.aquatic-gardeners.org/

You'll see that most of the winners will have a well defined hardscape with groupings of the same species of plants that give an overall pleasing image.

Can you give me some details on your lighting? Everything else is sounding fine... This could be the factor.

I think I have 1 watt to 1.5L or something like that. I will have a look in the mornign to confirm (fishies are sleeping and dont want to turn them on to check the signage).

Mike at seaview helped me select the lighting so I think it is adequate.

I've got quite a bit of thread/beard algae growing all over though sad.gif

I agree with both of you to some extent.

I like the idea of it looking a bit like a jungle - not like a piece of art which has been carefully planned and crafted.

But I also don't just want it to look like a dog's breakfast lol

Some of the inhabitants. They are all pretty small... for now!

(soz for blurry photos - they swim fast)

Stocking so far:

7 x Boesemani
9x Incisus
6x Empire Gudgeons
1x Common BN
