Hi all,
I thought it was about time I showed some of my fish. Below are some pics and video of my fish room. As you can see, the room still has a bit of work to go, but you get the idea.

Hope you enjoy, cheers,
Brenton.

The room is in the centre of the house. It has no external windows, except for one that ventilates into the garage. The cieling in now insulated with 40mm poly, as is the window. The floor is sunken and has a floor drain, so if a tank gives way the water will be contained in this room. The room also has a garden style tap in one corner so I dont have to carry water in, and I have a waste water hole drilled through the wall so all waste water syphons out onto the garden. Here is a quick panorama of the room.

Top left is my colony of Tropheus dubosi "Maswa" these guys are just starting to get adult colouration. Bottom left is my colony of Lethrinops sp. "Red Capuz" and Labidochromis chisumulae.
Top right are my Cyprichromis leptosoma "Utinta" and Opthalmotiapia ventralis "Kala Yellow". Bottom right are my Dimidichromis strigatus and Placidochromis phenochilus "Mdoka White Lip".

Top left are my Variabilichromis moori and top right is my Tropheus sp. "Moliro Red". On the bottom of this rack I will be getting four 2x2x1.5 tanks all plumbed to a single sump - they are currently on order.

Top tank here is the one that is visible from the dining room next door, its positioned in the wall. On the bottom is my colony of Neolamprologus multifasciatus.

This is the top tank from the dining room.

And these tanks are in a spare bedroom at the moment, but need to come back into the fish room as soon as the other tanks that are on order get installed.

Here is a video parorama of the fish room as it currently is:

Quality setup and quality fish mate! Luv the frame around the lounge room tank.

What have you used to create the stacked caves?

Daz, its quarried limestone thats been cut into sheets. I then cut the sheets into pieces about 20cm wide and 50cm long, and then used broken offcuts as spaces.

Nice setup there Brent, the pictures dont do it justice tho .. the fish & tanks look amazing in person. I was curious about that top tank being covered when I was there but forgot to ask -- now it makes sense smile.gif

Some great tanks you've got there mate.

How long have you had your Moliro? Are they breeding?

Cheers

Gareth,
These Moliro are about 2 years old. They haven't breed sucessfully yet, but have had a couple of mouthfulls. So hopefully it wont be too long.
I breed these myself from my previous colony. I still have a male and female from that colony and they breed occasionally.

Cheers,
B

Hi all,
Latest pics below:

I have just installed four 2x2x1.5 tanks all plumbed to a common sump. They fit below two of my other 4ft tanks. Just need to setup the filter and get these going now:

I've also moved my grow out tanks from the spare bedroom back into the fish room. So the room now has a total of 18 tanks including an aisle down the middle:

My Labidochromis chisumulae that was holding has now given me some bubs:

The Variabilichromis moori are almost ready to sell:

And my Opthalmotiapia ventralis "Kala Yellow", is still holding after 10 days:

Cheers,
B

Finally bit the bullet and bought some Triglachromis otostigma and Gnathochromis permaxillaris today (6 of each). (Yes Ronny, its all your fault...lol)
Have put them in a 6x2x1.5. It didn't take them long to start exploring their new home. Unfortunately my little point & shoot camera isn't quite up to the task, but here are a couple of pics anyway.

Cheers,
B

Nice! Have the permaxillaris been doing their awesome substrate sucking mouth action?

Very cool indeed biggrin.gif

Hope to see you adding to the trig thread biggrin.gif

I wanted to add some of the gnathochromis but was a bit concerned about how they occupy the same area as the trigs.

Please let us know how they go together (in the trig thread tongue.gif )

Hi All,
Ronny came around and took a bunch of pics of my fish back in January.
I've been really lazy, and have only just gotten around to posting them (Sorry for the delay Ronny), but here they are.

Thanks Ronny, they really are great pics, and I really appreciated the time you took to get them.

Cheers,
B

Some nice fish there Brenton.

Good shots too Ronny.

I love the Gnatho's, a fish I definitely want to get my hands on in the future. Do you know what the purpose of that enlarged lip is?

Brett, its seems to be used in feeding, the whole jaw extends like a vacuum and they sift through the substrate. Check the one on the bottom left here:

Cheers,
B

PS. These two seem to have paired up, they hang out together, but no action yet, not even a snog.
