Might be worth your while to drop Bengboy a line and ask him for his personal experience with Auto-feeders. I know he had quite a few running in his "House of Tropheus" :eek , for a while.

yeah Ryan - I did quite a bit of research on them - it seemed to me the only ones worth buying were the Eheims (which I did). There was one brand called, Hydor I think, that seems ok on paper but you need an air pump on it as well. The cheaper ones seemed like crap.
you need to do a bit of experimenting with them to get them working the way you want, eg size of food, how much they dispense etc etc.
Best not to leave food in them for too long cause they are near the water and the food absorbs the moisture. The Eheim rotates the food to dispense it and also has a small fan in it (only comes on when rotating). You can set the Eheims to feed from 1 to 4 times day (any time you choose). And there is a slider mechanism to set the amount, and you can set each feed to do a single or double serve - double serves seem like a good idea becuase it gives the food an extra rotation, ie instead of 1 full serve maybe do 2 half serves. It has a button to do a manual feed. At the moment I have one set up to feed while at work and in the morning and evening I give it a manual feed so I can watch my fish eat - this gives the food in the container a rotate do it doesnt pack down as much.
it depends on how much you feed your fish and how many fish you have but the container holds a fair wack - enough for a week or maybe 2 for a well stocked 6x2x2 ime.
