Hi recently i acquired some river sand from the local soil world. This stuff looks really cool and is the natural look i want for my new 5fter. However i wanted to segregate the very fine sand from the smallish pebbles and found that the bag i got contained a third of this fine sand. Anyone with experience with this product can tell me if most outlets sell this fine sand, pebble stuff or just the pebble stuff. I am also concerned it raises the ph of the water. I was told it is neutral.
Thanks peter

I dont know about the product it self, but i wouldnt be worried about it raising the pH.. this is good in most cases for cichlids, what does it raise the pH too?

I got a 25kg bag of Crushed River-rock(or stone...can't quite remember) from City Farmers. Was very cheap and no sand only tiny gravel.

Hmm i was hoping to use this gravel for my larger americans and i didnt want it to raise the ph ;\. Well i tested the tap water ph and it was around 7.3 (i think). The gravel made it a bit more blue ;\.
Ill check out the 25 kg bag at city farmers, hopefully the malaga store has it.
Thanks for the replies.

At Cook Industrial Minerals in Jandakot they have quite a few varieties of sand and gravel in various grades. worth a look. reasonable prices too approx $8 for 25kg depends wat u get.
