Aquotix is an international importer too, and will be placing an order from Germany shortly.

Imported fish are required to be quarntined for 2 weeks in certified quarntine facilities.
Quarntine facilities must be certificated by Australian Quarntine to come up to standards.
The standard for quarntine rooms are fairly high and elaborite. (e.g throughs to catch dripping water/UV sterilizers with lamp usage meters)
The certification for quarntine facilties is costly aswell.
The shipment must be checked once they come off the flight by a AQIS inspecter and agian a week into your quarntine period.
You should find a Western Australian shop or person who has certified Quarntine Facilities and talk to them about importing.
Note not many cichlid species are allowed in and not many common import locations (indonesia/malaysia) stock rare cichlid stuff that is allowed in.
Alot of WA local places just by off people who import so the middleman put his dollar on top aswell. But agian the larger the quarntine facilities the more chance of them doing orders to overseas places that stock the stuff you are looking for.
