for years I never had any lids on my Tropheus Chimba tank and never a jumper, now the tank is in the lounge room and I have put lids on it and I find this morning 2 jumpers, young 'uns about 2.5cm and 4cm.

The only opening is a 4cm opening around the auto feeder.

I did add 2 male bristlenose during the week, maybe they spook them during the night, but I think it is more likely to be the fact it is in the loungeroom and a bit more traffic (though I didnt turn the lights on when I came home in the wee hours this morning), maybe the moonlight etc

custom made lids coming up when I move

That's not good, especially seeing as they are something as pricey as Trophs

Same topic but entirely different type of fish, my brother woke this morning to find one of his bronze corys missing, a bit of lifting of tank ornaments and didn't find the little guy, I found him dried up on the floor behind the tank. He must have jumped out in the gap cut out for his eheim liberty.

Jumpers, no thanks, I've had a few losses and near losses with jumpers :nsg It especially sucks when the fish are near market size and a few weeks from being sold

The pleasure and pain of fishkeeping :\

One of my 9cm female blues jumped out at 5:30 in the morning two days ago. I think there must have been something going on in the tank. Both my girl and I woke up to hear SPASH *FLOP*...
I was like CRAP! turned on the light and scooped him up.
So lucky that we woke up.

Its a good thing my 6footer is next to my bed.

theres actually about 18 fish in there.
3 - 4cm Hongi colony.
The middle rock is about 20 different rocks all piled up together.

The reason why its like that is so its not so much of a pain in the arse to pull 100000 rocks out and get water all over the bed n stuff.
