hey all
like a lot of cichlidiots im starting to see my hobby expand and am starting to plan a fishroom filled with tanks from wall to wall and 5 ft tall.
my wife said if it expands out of that room she will leave me (should i offer to help her pack ).
im worried about a lack of powerpoints (3)in the room and the risk of spreading disease if i use a trickle and single sump system for all the tanks.
has anyone set up their fishroom using an air driven system to run individual filters in each tank.
my thoughts for the room went something like this,
* get electrician to fit some 4 ft flouros with grolite tubes where light bulb is now
* put in an oil heater and close aircon duct(she runs the aircon at about 19 -22 deg)
* put in a blower or compressor
experienced replies much appreciated
thanx

Hi Canerod
I guess it all depends on what sort of fish you want to keep and how big they will get and how big the tanks will need to be and the exact measurements of the room. You need to be able to fill it to the max cause you will run out of tanks .... one day
Send me an email with your land line number and details of fish and tanks and we can take it from there. It's too much to type out and there are too many variables to do it all with keystrokes

I'd also suggest you look at a reverse cycle aircon. You don't get as much humidity in your room then. You can set and forget as it heats and cools. Plus the size you need is smaller than for a "normal" room as the water has a much better buffering capacity.

Hi Adam
Many of the members of the Cichlid Society have their own fish rooms and sheds. A number of these do use air driven systems. They would be happy to discuss there experiences with you at one of the meetings if you are interested.Details are on the opening page.
Tony.
