Hey all,

Went to Birds N All last weekend, great shop with great people. And picked up a 3 month old sun conure. (Yeah the super noisy birds) haha.

He has settled in brilliantly and likes shoulder rides and rubs on his neck.

I saw that little guy for sale the other week and I shook my fist at him while saying something along the lines of "little noisy bastard"

Is he your first bird?

Yes he is my first bird. Did my research before I got him though.

Dazza: Just a small feathery entreè for those Oscars.

He is going well, super noisy but I don't really mind. He likes sitting on my head and wedging himself between me and the couch. He laughs too. So funny.

Cheers

Hey all, just sharing some more photos of Mango.

Here's his breakfast. (He eats a lot for a small bird!)

He likes fruit better than Vegetables, although he quite likes broccoli. Doesn't really like carrot though, throws it away like me giving him carrot is an insult haha.

I give him:

Pomegranate (his favourite)
Mango
Nectarine
Brussel sprouts
Broccoli
Grapes
Apple
Peanuts

And his pellet mix.

Cheers

He's a wicked looking bird. I had never heard of them until the other day when I was actually looking at other options to budgies. Is he quite interactive?

Haha. I was thinking the same thing. I should eat like him and I'd be much healthier.

Yeah, Sun Conures are known for being very interactive, affectionate and they love shoulder rides, scratches and things like that. Very friendly and noisy birds. They cuddle up to you and are very curious, they like exploring places and getting into cozy area like between pillows on the couch. Some of them even dance!

I would recommend them over budgies because of there affection and just how interesting and hilarious they are! Like he sometimes tries some food he doesn't like, he first shakes his head, then yells at whatever he doesn't like. Then sometimes he throws it, haha.

The main downsides to Sun Conures is the noise, I personally don't mind it at all, as my ears aren't sensitive but for some people it is what prevents them from getting one. Also the price. I would highly recommend getting a hand raised bird which aren't cheap.

Here are some informative and interesting links if you are interested in Getting a sun Conure.

Plus they look a hell of a lot better than budgies!! Not sure if my dog would play nice with it though but it is tempting

Yeah, what sort of Dog is it?

Usually if they are a puppy then you can train them quite easily to leave the bird alone. However, I recommend you keep an eye on your dog and bird whenever they are both out together.

Much better than budgies! My little guy likes to attack slabs of balsa wood too. he shreds the stuff to pieces haha
