G'day all. Need some advise. My female peacock is carrying eggs in her mouth. Don't know what to do. Do I need to remove her from the tank or wait till the fry hatched then remove the fry from her mouth.

Any help would be appreciated

Yours is the same scenario as the EY holding thread here http://www.perthcich...topic=54347&hl=

If it's her 1st time holding, best to let her spit the fry in her own time.

If she's held before and you know the approximate date of spawning, strip her on day 16-18, or wait for blackening under her jaw.

I found the best method of stripping all cichlids was to hold her gently with one hand, then with my other hand using my fingernail I'd open her mouth and gently pump her jaw with the index finger that was holding her.

Any doubts though, just enter stripping in the search box and you should find all the info you need.

You can also hold her in the hand open her mouth gently and then slowly pull her up and down in under the water. Then the fry will leave her mouth themselves.
