Is that your tank bro?

Man I would love to put some of that vine looking wood in my big tank, but I am sure the bass would smash it to pieces in a day!

That is a nice looking setup!

The old man's set up. But combo of his and my fish and wood.

Is the vine available over here? I have not really looked for it yet and want some when I do

a geo tank again

Hope that helps your decision a little bit :)

Sweet! Great tank.

Yeah man I've seen that wood kicking around. Last time I was at City Barn in Malaga they had some, I'm sure of it!

That is rather pretty. Seems a pity to deprive eartheaters of sand and thus their natural behaviour, though.

Agree with Kleinz. It's one big geo soup.

I like it; just think it needs sand.

Its a 10x2.5x2.5

There is alot of sand in there. But it needs wave makers to push the crap that comes off the wood to the inlets.

Tank was 2nd hand so the only inlets previous owner put in are on the right hand side. Hence no sand up that way.

Stunning tank!

I've scrapped the keyholes and bristle nose

2x Geophagus Tapajos
4x blue rams
20x cardinal tetra
2x whiptails...

Would that still be over stocking?

How deep would you recommend the sand... I was thinking 2-4cm

Cheers

This is a phone shot of my geo tank - not much more than fry currently. River sand at about 4-5cm. Geo love sifting all day, so err on too much sand rather than not enough. River sand is great. Plenty of fine stuff to sift thru with some small gravel size for texture and colour difference. So much better than play sand.

I prefer to use New life spectrum.

I like 1mm the best but 2mm is fine.

Cheers, would small Hikari cichlid pellets be good? I already have 2 packets of them and 2 packets of Sera Flora Flakes.

Credit where credits due....it was your advice on this forum that got me onto it. Looks great, who would bother with play sand again?

Which Hikari cichlid pellets are you refering to? Geo's prefer a higher protein diet to your African. I am getting some good colouration coming out in my little geo's since moving to Central/South American New Era, with minced prawn as the occassional treat.

You can use whatever you want (within reason), but matching your fish to  food will see optimum results.

Hikari cichlid gold (small size) It was recommended by aquarium city for my Americans
I give my American cichlid tank a mix in between baby and small Hikari gold cichlid pellets with the occasional lettuce and Mysis shrimp treat.

Cheers

No, totally inert. It's basically all quartz.

Think I must have had a dirty batch. I will give it another go.
