Hey I second that notion!! I have had a coke bottle with yeast, sugar and water going for about 3 months now! Works a charm!

What I did was drill a small hole into the coke bottle lid, squeeze a one way valve thingo into the hole (with the end to the airpump into the bottle) and then put a bit of tube into the water. As I say, the difference is incredible!

I have just introduced my first fish, this week just gone. So the plants have only been getting Nitrates from the liquid fertiliser I use. Still, the growth rate is so good, I have to trim vallisneris (spelling?) every week with the water change, and most other tall plants also cause they are growing out the water!

Hey Justin!

Justin here :} I was just thinking, maybe use two bottles? I have one in a six by 18 or something (I want to get a 6'2'2')

One bottle seems to working great - mind you, I dont really have heaps and heaps of plants in there at the moment, plus I have a fair bit of air pumping through the water too... Hmm maybe I should rig up another bottle myself...

Nutrafin Natural CO2 System is available for $47 at www.aquaria.com.au

Ben has a different unit for $45 - Supreme Aqua Cyclone(www.aquariumproducts.com.au) and the SunSun CO2 for $55.

I have purchased from Ben, (Age Of Aquariums) before. They get the thumbs up from me.

Hi

I half fill it with warm water, a sachet of bakers yeast and a cup of sugar, then sit it on the aquarium light so it warms up. Untouched it lasts for over a week.

I just let it bubble away with out any restriction because I have that much air and surface movement that there is no point in having it bubble once a minute or what ever. (if you restrict it, it will probably last longer...) I produces lots of gas, couldnt quantify it though. Enough to keep the plants happy! ;)

If after a week, it stops bubbling but it looks like the yeast is alive still (give it a shake or a squeeze and then wait to see if more CO2 is produced) then I put a cup more sugar.

Be warned, fermenting sugar smells like stale VB mmm beer...

You can get it feeding your fish... you can get it taking a wizz (actually this usually happens after...)
Matter of fact I got it now... mmm beer. 8)
