I am also buying another colony of Afra cobue (7f-3m) and they are proven breeders with fry prove...

I am just wounding if I am able to put the 2 colonies together or do I have to keep them in different tanks???

Need to know ASAP because I'm buying second colony this weekend...

Should be fine all together if they are the same species and your tank is large enough. I would imagine 18 of these guys would need lots of rock to create territories and disperse aggression.

It will also be good to mix new blood lines in the breeding group.

I had a decent colony of the Cobues, they are probably still my favourite species. Such a gorgeous fish.

I had a colony of about 12 (4M/8F) in a 4x18x18 and they did fine. Nil deaths to aggresion... But the dominant male was very territorial at times.
But a 6x2x2 would be a great size tank for the 2 colonies.
Just make sure u have alot of caves/hiding spots.

I also found that my colony were alot happier if they were left alone and have the lighting minimal. Might have been my 'shy' colony.

All the best. dont see many of these guys in too many shops, well not quality ones....

I'd keep them as two seperate breeding groups and swap the males around.
