Well copper sulphate at 1g per 1000L works dam well. We sell it under the blue planet brand "snail rid". But yea, no good for shrimp, so water change after treatment before adding them back in. SOme plants dont like it, found elodea to be very sensitive.

Blue planet is crap. I had some snails survive the whole bottle.

That's a bit harsh Ameya
I'm planning to take all the plants out of the tank, and store them in water with a snail killer solution.
I will also throw out all the aquarium soil/gravel, and completely clean the tank when empty to make sure I kill all the snails.
Hoping that works, as I dislike the look at the moment.
thanks for the advice gents

Its the same chemical, brand means little in cases of chemistry. While some snails may be able to survive by sealing up and hiding in the gravel, most will not.

Good think the gravel will be going in the bin too. Bit of a waste, as its a whole bag of aquarium soil capped with black gravel but that's what I'm going to do to make sure I don't get any snails when I set the tank up again.

I plan to do it once, and do it right. So snail killer in a bare bottom tank will prob be the way forward for me.
