Hmmmm your braids see a lot juice, get into it hard as you can,,, once you start popping out those kiddos and cost of life goes up, you'll likely face prioratization in both time and money matters...
Lol, if you had to cut three quarters of your fishing time out, you'd still being fishing truckloads more than anyone else,, funny stuff.

I generally fish twice a week. Land based on Wednesday evenings and off the boat on Saturdays. Spend Sunday with the Fun Police.

Then you trek the world and go to other places.
Lol,, it's like drinking through the week then binging the weekends...
But for any fisho that's successful,, that's what it takes I reckon,,, increasing the odds, then learning when to go and when not to,,, when putting in hours like that.

Exactly right, about having to put in the hours. It is a constant learning curve. I started fishing about 10 years ago, didn't have any family members into it to teach me and the couple of mates I had that wanted to come along were novices themselves. Had to teach myself almost everything I know. Over the years I have gained a few really good fishing mates, that I have learnt from and imparted some knowledge.
Fishing isn't easy in Metro waters, need to put in the time and be willing to cop the odd day where you come home with nothing but a fuel bill and a headache. Like the time we went for that beach bash and come up empty handed!

Day after the full moon. Generally good fishing a couple days either side. This was the exception to the rule.

Looking forward to the next few months - hopefully the yellow fin tuna turn up and we get to get into some 40kg barrels. If they are here we will catch them.

We have caught jelly bean yellow fin as close in as the back of the 3 mile reef.
Most reports of big yellow fin are near the fads or there bouts so 50km offshore.
We have found an area, about 30km offshore that regularly holds big schools of bait fish, and often has several current lines running through it so this will be our first area of focus. Need to find areas with differences in water surface temp this is often where you will find the predators. I have really enjoyed doing a lot more trolling and game fishing, had heaps of success of small to medium tuna. Next 3 months will be a mad hunt for some barrels.
We have hit the rottnest trench a few times recently. I know this area holds billfish, only a matter of time until we hook up to a stick face.

Havent posted in this thread in a while - cracked a PB Dhu fish on a plastic over the weekend 81cm (not sure on weight, I don't weigh fish only measure)
I managed 7 size dhu fish from 55 - 81 for the day all on plastics

Yeah I did really well with the plastics, the boys using the metal jigs didn't fare so well.
I think I'll manage getting through the fillets Johnno!
Went around to my mums place last night and cooked a whole 5kg pink snapper in her oversized oven. Come up a bloody treat!

i remember the days when you went out around the back of carnac island and sometimes back of garden island and you'd catch half a dozen dhuies in an hour and be on your way to rotto pub for lunch ....... then had to follow the rottnest ferry home cause you got pissed and forgot what time it was and the freo doctor came howling in and it was an absolute washing machine between rotto and freo..... lol
