Anyone use either Dino Spit or Excel as the only source of carbon? If so, under what circumstances?

I want to grow a tank full of ferns (normal, mini, narrow, windelov java ferns and bolbitis) under fairly low light. Currently using CO2 but want to ditch it because i'm pretty sure my bass doesn't like it.

I need to hack back some of the older bolbitis leaves but I pretty much want an out of control jungle with bolbitis and the bigger java ferns at the back and narrow leaf and mini at the front.

I have but the lights were too high for any carbon source it provides.

I have seen one absolutely stunning tank which was getting dosed 1ml per gallon of whichever the lower concentration product is. Similar to API leaf zone or something I think. Anyways normal dosing was about a ml per 10 gallon.

I've never managed to get my dosing down to that level. From looking into it I felt 2ppm (maybe 1pmm) should be maximum concentration of glut in tank.
