Ok here we go,
firstly let's keep this civil but educational

"WHAT FILTRATION DOES EVERYONE RECCOMEND FOR MARINE?"

Now discuss:

I am a huge beliver of the Berlin method, for those that are new to this the Berlin method is a very simple way of filtering a marine tank where the live rock is the only filter and you just use power heads to move water, there is more to it but it can be seen here (http://www.berlinmet...m/overview.html)

Good points about it:

- simple

- uses less equipment

- brakes nitrates down

the great thing about using live rock is that not only does it brake ammonia into nitrite into nitrate it than brakes nitrate down to nitrogen gas which is than released from the tank creating a nitrate less tank which is what you want for corals etc. this is known as denitrification, where else in a canister or hob filter it can only brake down into nitrate and gives you a tank with very high nitrates, which is no good for fish or corals

as can be read in Marine Chemistry by Chris R. Brightwell ( a great book for every marine keeper and I recommend you get one), it can also be seen here : http://www.aquarists...nitrogen-cycle/

well that's my thoughts so what is everyone else's???

Regards

Sam

That's what I'm currently using on my 140ltr set up.
Going to add a skimmer this week tho.
All seems to be going fine.

About 9kg but my base rock is also showing signs of colonization now.
