Once you are past the two week period then your maintenance schedule needs to be weekly IMO.

It doesnt seem overstocked with 30 and most being young.

Keep us informed if anything further develops.

Madasa
I agree with you in respect to salt and possibly melafix (I was more concerned with not adding antibiotics or therapeutic dyes like malachite green) melafix is mild enough to use without causing problems in regard to drug resistance and the biological filtration and salt should always be used in most fish tanks automatically. I am impressed with your information that you provide and have noticed that you are only one of a few that have provided good helpful information to those in need.
However, with respect of cause, I am concerned for the need for increased temperatures with the fact that the bacteria that can cause such fast growing ulcers thrive in temperatures between 24 and 30 C. I would understand that the immune system of the fish would be increased at the same time, but with my experience in quarantining fish, the best temp to control bacterial and protozoal outbreaks is between 22 and 24. This gives some time to determine the problem and start a treatment routine. Once I know what problem exists, I would decide then if the increase in temp would help (Costia, whitespot etc)
I am not saying you are wrong and not go ahead with it, I mean discus keepers keep their fish at 32C for reason of disease prevention.
Each to his or her own, this is the fun side of fish keeping and the best use for these forums. Someone can put their best foot forward and everyone else can make their own informed decisions. Ultimately everyone learns something new every day... I know I do.

Thanks for the compliment doc - much appreciated.

The reason I am an advocate for increasing temp is to promote metabolism and consequently healing. If a nasty is lurking then increased temp will expedite its noticeability and correct treatment applied.

Its a difficult case here as I would have to restrain myself physically from adding a prophylactic broad spectrum antibiotic.

Good to have you here on board. Where have you been and how come you're so knowledgeable?

I've been hiding, keeping fish for a long time and the biology degree gives me more understanding about what goes on in a fish tank.
I don't know everything, just want to help when I can.
