Mine breed in a pond without any help from me smile.gif
But I do know it's triggered by a rise in temperture, so if you have them indoors in a tank, you may have to find some way of fluctuating the temperature.

Depends on where you keep them biggrin.gif

Firstly water must be have low nitrate, zero nitrite and zero ammonia
Secondly water changes trigger them to spawn, the temperature difference triggers them. Usually a water change at any time would cause them to spawn the next day or later during the day. I usually do a water change at night, and in the morning they usually spawn. Had red cap orandas and ranchus that spawn consistently every week (different goldfish)
Now, finally, you must have something for the eggs to hold on. As they scatter the eggs, usually some moss, or plastic plants would help, if they spawn on the gravel or at the bottom then you need to do something drastic.

Something drastic - The water in a aquarium would crush the eggs, if they are spawn at the bottom of the tank. What you need to do is to get the fish out and move them into another tank. THEN you need to lower the water level to about 6cm OR you can siphon the eggs out but because the eggs stick to the gravel or the side of the tank or where ever, it is usually not possible to do so.

Eggs would hatch depending on the temperature, the warmer it is, the faster they will hatch. After they hatch it will take 48-72 hours for them take on external food from green water or crushed egg or baby brine shrimp

Keep an airstone in the water at all times, but away from the fry (as you can damage their spines and they will be deformed), you can drop a little methyl blue to keep the fungus away (I dont bother) or you can buy fry food at your LFS

That's the gist of it, I may have missed out some parts since I do it automatically (how do you explain how to ride a bike? lol), you can google "How to breed goldfish" they usually turn out a lot of information, not that hard to follow the steps. They aint hard to breed, keeping the fry alive isnt hard either, just need to have the time and patience

I bred quite a number of goldfish, got bored, now they are in a pond where I dont need to go through all the trouble I mentioned lol. 3 new goldfish I got from Vebas are actually spawning in a 100 litre tank, not to bad for less than 1 year olds lol

Good luck
