So where I live, I\'m fairly blessed in that there aren\'t as many cats as other places. Dunno why, just aren\'t really around.

Where I live also, I have a bunch of birds nesting. I have 2 pairs of New Holland honey eaters nesting in the bush right by my front door, among other things.

I have a few large bins of water in the shrubs that the frogs love to come and frolic in. Sometimes they camp my front door or sit round the lawn smoking bongs or whatever it is that they do

Then new people moved in over the road. After a couple of weeks, I saw them sitting out the front, having let their cats out (they have two), for the first time. The cats were hesitant, but after a couple of weeks they have gotten used to it all and this evening I came out with a bucket of tank water for the garden and I heard that squeal that distressed frogs make. I went and got a torch and I found one of their cats with Bruce the motorbike frog in its mouth. I chased it out, and went over the road and politely explained the situation and asked them to keep their cats in at night. Whether they will do that remains to be seen.

Don\'t get me wrong, I have nothing much against cats, but if left to do what cats do, my yard will be silent in weeks. What\'s the council stance on this sort of thing? any advice on keeping these torture machines out of my yard?

Depending on your city council, A number of them will hire out cat traps for your use. Simple enough to use and catch the cats on your property and take to the pound... Or deal with yourself! If Your neighbors have to keep going to retrive there cat they might be more likely to keep them inside, or invest in a cat cage.

Put poisoned meat in your yard where only the cats can get it.... wait, you probably shouldn't. It's probably illegal.

Should of just let it disappear, then when they get another one, let that one disappear too and so on until they get the message. Now if it disappears they know where to come a knocking. Here kitty, kitty poster_oops.gif sorry kitty.

technically speaking if its on your property then its fair game... personally i'd let the dogs out and soon will hear that terrifying scream a cat makes before dog rips it to shreds smile.gif

or grab the cat traps as suggested and when you have caught it then lob it into the deep end of your pond tongue.gif see if you can catch any marron!!! lol....

they are pretty good cray bait - do you live near the ocean???

Although my favourite quote of Kleinz (besides the one in my sig) is "he's got a reverse gear".

Heh heh... That link was clever and entertaining but as far as I know there is only one species on the planet that kills for fun.....

My little fellah is the ultimate house cat but has still cut a swaythe through the Native Cricket and Cockroach population!! Who knows how many of these creatures he has put paid to over the years..... He once caught a mouse....and I know catching a Bristlenose is on his bucket list.

We humans are very quick to point the finger at a species domesticated and then introduced by us that only does what it does instinctively, when we are the ultimate feral killing machines operating with conscious thought.

I love my cat.... wub.gif I'd like to say he wouldn't hurt a fly but I have seen evidence to the contrary... Although he does prefer crickets...

It's OK Big Johnno I know I'm in the minority on this one..... wink.gif

By the way when you have finished reading the shameless anti-cat propaganda scroll down a little to; My Dog:The Paradox. Very funny.....
