Important Announcement Field

Hey I just noticed the 'important announcement' field is now at the top of every page. Was it always so? I'm going to look very silly if it was... rolleyes.gif

I must admit I find it an unnecessary speed hump to get to whatever I'm looking at -- and this is after all the help I got making my browser read sites like this more easily when the new skin was installed. At the very least, could the 'My Controls View New Posts etc' bar please be moved to below the announcement field? I would also like to see the announcement field more streamlined please.

I know this is just one person's opinion but hopefully thic can open further discussion smile.gif

EDIT: Just as a random idea could the announcement field be incorporated into the top site banner or something? I do think that it is important information and I'm not saying I don't want to see it, I'm just lazy...

I think its always been there, perhaps just of late has alot more info in it, making it stand out?

Maybe the announcements can be left to the main index page of the forum.

I'll note that i dont mind it on each page.

It normally shows on the main forum page only but when closer to an event (in this case the upcoming meeting on Tues and the Photo Comp March entries about to end) it shows up on all pages.

Will have a think to see how / if it can be streamlined.

I think it's good to promote upcoming events everywhere when it gets close to the date. Some of us have less than organised lives and it's appreciated smile.gif

In the case of the current announcements, the guest speaker info could be on one line etc. It's really no big deal though. Could the photo comp clicky even be in a tab up with the 'Home Club Membership Meetings etc'? Some of the entries are definitely worth showing off.
