5ft aquarium is too small for those fish in the long term.

They are both piscivores so won't eat your plants. But they may dig them up.

Use the search function on the forum and you will find plenty of information about the proper care of these fish - good luck!

Not at all, I had a pair in a 8x2.5x2.5 by themselves and they hit the sides of the tank all the time. I'm guessing your fish have calluses on their lower jaw from smashing themselves into the side of your tank? With the ferocity that pbass attack their food they need enough room to accelerate, smash their food and then decelerate safely. A 6x2x2 I would consider a grow out tank for juvies and not adequate housing for sub adults or adults especially long term

I remember a forum member named whoever that strangely enough had the same fish as you in the same tank as well. What a coincidence!
