Thanks for the comments guys.

Nah Dave we aren't fishing fry balls, wrong time of the year for spawning. Fry season is generally July-September which is when the best fishing is. Ended up with another 2kg fish this afternoon, worked hard for it. So after two FULL days of wild snakehead fishing ended up with 4 snakeheads. 2, 3 and 5kg and a little tacker that we didn't weigh. Learnt some valuable fishing lessons and had a ball. Our guide reckons we did well considering the time of year. I must have put in 2-3 thousand casts over the last 2 days my back is finished!

Typical grassland habitat, the best spots are in the small inlets up close to the grass, so accuracy is essential

Hit the barra ponds yesterday, lost count how many I landed, probably 50+ 6-10kg fish. All on poppers.

All the snakehead fishing I did was on surface lures.

Gar put up absolutely no fight at all, was pathetic. Red tails pound for pound were the hardest and dirtiest fighters of the trip.

I'm going to write up a full article/report with all the images and videos when I get home to post around the net. Was an absolutely epic trip. Ticked a lot of fish off the list plus a few extras.

Going to Europe next month, last minute decision. Going to try hook up some wells catfish action!

Yeah mate gotta do it. I'll be going back again with my mate next year. We had a great time, I still have some unfinished business with the fish of thailand.

Don't be silly mate.

Alex: Gonna go later this year i reckon, gotta do a bit of research to find out when the snakehead are firing and if that coincides with all all the other fish firing as well.

Looks like it was a cracker trip, hows the arms and back feeling?

Hey Alex, just out of curiosity how was fishing for snakeheads in a canoe? Was keeping your balance a real pain?
I'd be way too scared that I'd fall in and get castrated by an angry snakehead..

Dave - In my opinion. Contact BKK guy and go with him. 1 day in the predator pond, 2 days wild snakehead fishing and 1 day in the barra ponds cost us ~$1200AU each. Which I think is very reasonable, as it includes almost all the food 2 nights accomo' and transport. Be prepared to work off minimal sleep. I'm making a proper lengthy report that will be posted up in the next few days. BKK (John) - does some fly fishing too, so I'm sure he will be able to accommodate you for fly fishing.

My back is feeling fine now, but the inside of my left arm is killing me, pretty bruised up from pinning the rod under my arm pit when i was fishing for barra. Might sound strange but my left groin/hip flexer is pretty tender too from resting the rod there in the pred ponds when my arms were sore.

Jackmack - The canoes are a little unstable when you first jump in, but you quickly become accustomed to standing and casting in them. I reckon I must have put in close to 3,000 casts in the wild, never fell out once.

Lock it it mate, you will not regret it.

Was doing a lot of power lifting leading up to that trip, and ended up putting on a bit around the mid section too.
