Sick Fish Advice

columnaris? Bloat?

Please fill out as much as possible below and give us a description of what is wrong with your fish.

Type of fish: so far lost 2 swordtails now affecting a bristlenose catfish
Symptoms: bloated belly, white bits that look like enlarged scales
Other tank mates: angel fish, Cory's and Mollies
Tank size / capacity: 230 litres
Type of Food fed: flake, veg wafers, Zuchini and shelled peas
Feeding frequency/amount: daily pinch
Substrate: gravel
Type of filtration: built in filter
Frequency of filter cleans: not often
Frequency and % volume of water changes: 40%
Last water change: 2 weeks ago
PH: 7.2
KH:
GH:
Nitrite:
Nitrate:
Ammonia:
Phosphate:
Water temp: 26-28
Medications used recently to date:
Any recent changes..new fish/filters/power outages etc etc:

Got a pic mate? The 'white bits' could be a fungus? Although I couldn't say for sure without seeing it

Whatever it is, do a water change and gravel clean. Clean water helps!

Get a water test, it could be dropsy

Type of fish: Already lost 2 swordtails, now bristlenose female
Symptoms: fat then white fluffy bum
Other tank mates: Angels, swordtails, Mollies
Tank size / capacity: 230litre approx
Type of Food fed: flake, pellet and veg wafer, occasional Zuchini
Feeding frequency/amount: twice daily
Substrate: Red gravel
Type of filtration: built in
Frequency of filter cleans: not done yet had about 10 weeks
Frequency and % volume of water changes: 35% done 2 weeks ago
Last water change: 30-35% a week and 2 days ago
PH: 7.2
KH:
GH:
Nitrite:0
Nitrate:high
Ammonia: 0
Phosphate:
Water temp: 28C
Medications used recently to date: salt
Any recent changes..new fish/filters/power outages etc etc: New fish after 2 week quarantine

Just read the other (double) topic.So nitrate is 40 2 days after a water change.
Not being rude mate but what does that tell you?
Also update this post with some of the extra info in the other one... will make it easier for people to help.

High nitrates doing the damage.
Do daily water changes to gradually bring the nitrates down.
Don't feed the fish

Feeding twice a day. Would definitely cut down to once a day.

Might seem an obvious question, but how long has the tank and filters being running? you mention 10 weeks. If this is so you might be going through "new tank syndrome" Introducing to many fish to quickly, however I would expect to see Ammonia and Nitrite if that was the case.
