Just over a month ago I took a venture to Aquotix and placed an order for an upgrade.
Shes a lovely 5x2x2 with a solid pine cabinet and custom Kipilli 3d background.
Arriving just after 2:30 this afternoon looking as beautiful as i could of imagined. I couldnt hold back from getting my hands wet so i dove straight in.
5 hours later im finally able to sit back and enjoy what was the first of many relaxing moments beside her.
Ill throw up a better pic tomorrow once the water settles and looks alot clearer but heres one as now.

I do what to give a massive shout out to the entire team at Aquotix. They were a pleasure to work with and have done such a great job from start to finish
Pretty excited about trying out the new drainage pipe to make water changes soo much easier

The 2 females (i believe)
Loved watching these guys over the last year but unfortunately today i added a few new additions and found one an hr later half devoured. Needless to say these guys have outgrown the tank and need to be moved on

First Ich Outbreak.
30 December 2015 - 04:48 PM
Just came home from a usual 24 hr shift at work to discover an ich outbreak and loss of 3 fish with another handful showing the pinhead sized white spots covering their body.
Im aware that ich is a common parasite so im posting this up to keep track and get any advice from u guys if im doing something wrong.
Water parameters are
Ammonia: 0.25
Nitrite: 0
Nirtate: 20
Temp: 27
So far for treatment ive given a dose of white spot remedy which ill need to repeat in 3 days time. Tomorrow ill be heading down to a lfs to get some NLS with the added garlic.
I was going to raise the temp but doing abit of reading advised not to because that will null the medications effects.
I was abit unsure if adding aquarium salt would be benificial or not
The only things ive done to the tank within the last week is add a sump and used my canisters bio media to fill it until the moving bed gets established. Canisters are still running with the filter pads, outlet turned down and is plumbed into a uv sterilizer to give the water column a longer period under the light.
Fish are fed either once daily or 2 small feeds with an off day during the week
Is there something im missing or could be doing differently to aid in the fish recovery?
Thanks guys

Late Night Ponderings
13 December 2015 - 11:05 PM
Its 11pm on a sunday night and im stuck on duty and as i stand here i find myself asking the tough life questions... Do i build a sump and what shall be my grand design.
And i wonder what adding an eel to my tank will do to the harmony and balance? Will the eel (i would name Clancy) make friends easily or will he be the shy guy?
What fills your heads when sleep seems soo far away?
