Hi all,

I am sure this has been asked many a times, but wasn't able to find anything.

I am looking for an airpump strong enough for at least 15 sponge filters. But would like it to be as silent as possible.

Now I do understand that it will make a noise, just looking for something that is the quietest of them all. Anyone have any recommendations?

Does anyone have experiences with Resun LP20 or AirLab AV20?

Cheers,

Spiesie

Resun LP,,, Definetely queiter after connected to load or manifold.
Many people test noise pulling out of box and plugging in,,,, but true test is when it's hooked up under test.
I've dealt with many pumps in my time, when any other pump the same size of the LP is compared to the LP they never perform like the LP for volume output or quietness.
It's like every other pump out on the market has a output less than they state,,, or is LP punching out more than they state ??.

Pond one pumps are fairly quite, but the odd one seems a tad noisier, same size comparison to LP though is still is not as good as LP.

I've had all brands cook and break as much as each other for the brands I've tried anyway, about six roughly all up.

The true secret to a quite pump is to have a large manifold to sufficiently deliver air volume that it's trying to expel.
To many people have manifolds that are to small (even one they supply with pump is to small on larger models), and all the pipes diameter delivering the air throughout are usually to small,,,, some people go over board with diameters but there's no harm in that.

I have two Airlab EV100's running 53 sponges with nil issues, and very quiet. Both airpumps are plumbed directly into a large ringmain manifold

So that is the trick! Makes sense. What would be a good diameter for the pipes? I am assuming that it depends also on the size of the pump?

LP30? I'll PM you later in the week and see if I can have a look. Do you also have it connected to a manifold?

No, since i'm only running 3 sponges and 2 air stones, I bleed out a lot of the air. I just run individual air line tubing around the place with taps on each outlet of the pump.

depends how far you need to run the air and how many outlets which will vary pump size to.
Usually 25mm poly will do for smaller situations,, I tend to split things up into modules and choose pump sizes accordingly and run 25mm poly for easiness and heaps of avaliable fitting options,,, but usually it's good to project the first few meters with 30-40mm pvc in larger situations so they pump can initially expell pressure to deliver volume,,, better volume gets delivered with 30-40mm all the way round,,, some people would be amazed at the better permance their pumps wouod give by upgrading manifold diameters,, I reckon mines Definetely restricted by a percentage.

i use pond one 8000 pumps.... i have 6 running and 1 out of the 6 is audible from 3-4 feet away - rest cant hear over the bubbles... each powers 20 air outlets with plenty of air... could easily do 15-25 outlets....

i think the noisy one is on its last legs - one of the originals which is about 7-8 years old....
