#338335 Your Quick Response To This

Posted by shayne on 01 May 2015 - 10:37 AM

Or maybe how much less the problem would be with an end to prohibition?  Quality control,affordability, less demonisation and forcing into subcultures of vulnerable people, major blow to organised crime and corruption and with less scare mongering and some realism a chance at education. Speed is a special [horrible] case but as a pendulum swings so has the speed problem, we had all these headlines in the 80s and before my memory the 60s, it will swing again. Easing up on pot and having realistic impairment based drug testing in the workplace and on the roads would accelerate this swing. { sorry if im going of topic :unsure: }

i haven't done much research but i remember that Portugal has decriminalised all drugs (again i only have a vague recollection of an article i read a while ago). seem to remember that crime and overdoses drastically reduced

Not fully familiar but someone will try to cut you down :)  i think crime was down but deaths have risen, however lots of people choose to ignore the kill rate of alcohol, tobacco and regular pharmaceutical drugs or to discuss that some people may choose to euthanise/suicide and so skew the figures.

Same with mine tries to swim with his tank mate and annoys the crap out of him.
Still splashes around at night though... got me buggered what he's playing at though.

Only been 3 nights mate but havent had a splash out of him since he went in. he is a love junkie fortunately his tankmates, a couple bigger than him, some smaller are tolerant of it. Am going to bring my tandanus together [different tank ] and see if their behaviour changes.Loving those rainbows to, 3out of 4,1 particularly strong have coloured up, this tank gets early morning sunlight and it makes those colours pop. [ way to go MM not just feeding a mans fish habit. Stoking it!  :)  ]

Sad isnt it, the aquarium industry/serious aquarists might be the last chance for some of these species but we are unable to keep them. Let the habitat destruction continue. :(

VERY happy thanks MM, he coloured up almost immediately upon going into the tank[ quite amazed how quick the change was ] finnage seems identical to mine and absolutely no sign of aggression yet, they are playing tag whilst i type.I think this is going to be really interesting when he settles in.cheers mate

#337285 Wtb: Food Cultures

aquotix often have grindels, never seen daphnia for sale locally but with the lower temps now and a bit of rainfall you will be able to get wild caught soon and start your own culture,my struggling colonies have kicked off with the lower temps.i got lucky with white worms buying compost worms off gumtree came with heaps but they struggle with high temps.have you tried mossie larvae? easiest to culture and hard to find a fish that wont eat them.often/usually get blood worms at the same time

#336143 Where?

And get your fresh water fishing licence.

And develop a  thick skin, there is a lot of citizens out their that will think your evil no matter how correct your arguement about noxious species may be.Some councils/rangers take a dim view also. Some 2/3 kilo ones in a lake near me and i dont dare i just know those citizens standing under the dont feed the ducks signs shoveling crap into the lake will give me trouble.

#335791 What Spawned In Your Tank Today???

Posted by shayne on 27 February 2015 - 10:24 AM

Yay my 1st desert gobie spawn, but conveniently in 1 of 4 caves supplied? hell no he has excavated under a jumble of little rocks. Believe this spawn is doomed as they are in a community tank whilst they grew up but plan to do a little tank for them and give the breeding a proper go. Charming little fish

gobies love worms grindal, white worms, micro worms, blood worms all taken with great relish.daphnia [ hard to keep a culture going in the current heat ] mossie larvae easy easy and very welcome. I have stopped live bloodworms for the gobies, i attended a pcs lecture on live foods conducted by SYDAD  [ many thanks SYDAD wish we all had more time ] im pretty sure he expressed concerns about bloodworms chewing there way out of some fish i disregarded this but subsequently i think i have witnessed this. Was given 10 desert gobie fry [ thanks MM ]  lost one to suicide [climbed out and died on the table ] lost 2 more watched  1 in great distress with something trying to burst out of its chest; very much like alien, was late at night took a couple of bad phone pics and decided to isolate the fish in the morning, to late died overnight and the snails and small crayfish had destroyed most of the evidence. Had 4 in 1 tank 6 in another lost 1 in the other tank but didnt witness it, stopped the bloodworms and all seems fine. 6 or 7 weeks have gone by and all is good, have 2 little men bouncing all over the place looking for a mate. Does any one else have an opinion on the live bloodworms?  keen to hear

#335396 Driftwood From River

Posted by shayne on 21 February 2015 - 01:47 PM

Alright thanks :) I may risk a few pieces for myself (Already have taken 2 or 3 :P , Atm they are really great, only problem is the ones I've got in my main tank (http://www.perthcich...topic=60230&hl=) are so hard it's difficult to attach java fern to)but I probably won't sell them unless I've had them in a tank for ages and they are all good :)

never mind the legality, you might want to consider the ethics of habitat destruction [ a major problem for all our waterways ] and just keep it to a minimum. If at all

#324211 Best Places To Go Fishing Around Perth?

Posted by shayne on 11 August 2014 - 10:45 PM

Blackwall reach is a BEAUTIFUL area but difficult to fish for newbies. My advice would be to park at point walter and walk/cycle or paddle to the left bank have 1 or 2 of your favourite bevs and soak up the beauty.River and shore based fishing is pretty grim around here without a bit of experience and some degree of luck
