Getting pics the right size:
Now lets start with the pics themselves. They will be a .jpg file in most cases. If you have had them taken with a digital camera, they will usually be quite large in terms of size. This is bad if you want to display them on the web, cos it takes ppl with slow connections a long time, and also you won't be able to see the whole picture on the screen (depending on screen resolution of course).

Anyway first I would resize the picture so that it's width is around 600 pixels wide. The height doesn't really matter so lets keep the aspect ratios as they were originally and just resize the width so that ppl can see the whole pic.

What program can you use to do this? Some ppl have adobe photoshop, or macromedia fireworks or some other graphics editing program. If you dont have one, a nice and simple free one is lview. Now that this is done, you will find that the file size is also a lot smaller..

Getting my pics on the net:
Now, next step is to upload your pics to some webspace. The best place to do so is with the included webspace with your internet account. For example, say you are with iinet for your internet, and they include 10 megabytes of space for you to put whatever you want on the web. Your ISP (internet service provider) will have instructions on how to upload stuff onto the webspace. This will be different depending on which ISP you are with, but basically you will need to use an FTP program - which basically copies the pic files from your computer on to the web.

If you don't have free webspace, you can use free web servers like geocities. But they don't support hotlinking so you will not be able to display the pictures on other sites, you can only place links to them.

Apparently you can use the auction part of picturetrail (another free web server) and it supports hotlinking. Try it yourself because i haven't used it..

As a last resort, you can email your pictures to me and I'll put them up for you..

Get ur pics up on the forums:
To get your pics up on the forum, just add a new post or reply to an existing one. On the left of where you type in your comments, there is a button labelled 'image'. Just click on that, and then put in the URL (web address) of the picture in question. This will be usually members.iinet.net.au/~you...icture.jpg of course this will vary depending on your ISP.
