Scientific Name: Metriaclima barlowi
Pronunciation: Met-ri-a-cli-ma bar-low-e
Trade Name(s):Barlowi
Distribution: Southern Lake Malawi
Habitat: Sediment rich rocky areas
Diet: Mainly plankton & Aufwuchs
Sexing: Males are a beautiful yellow with blue tinge in dorsal fin, Females are brown.
Breeding: Keeping in colonies suits this species & as with most Mbuna, 1M to 3-4F more males in a larger tank.
Maximum Size: Approx 14cm
Temperature: 24 to 26c
pH: 7.5 to 9.0
Water Hardness: 300-400ppm
Availability: Not a rare species in Oz, but one that is not commonly available.
Comments: Very agro towards males & females, Most of the time they leave other tank mates alone.
