Hey guys,

Nice to see a planted aquarium section of the forums - good work Vince and Brett. After pulling my planted tank down due to lack of time, I couldn't keep away and have started up again with a lil nano planted aquaria.

-------
Specs
-------
1ft cube
20W 5000K screw in CF
50w Tronic Heater
Aquaclear mini with just sponge on minimum flow
Dupla pressurised CO2 (hehe can you say overkill! Hey its sitting around I might as well use it :)

At the moment the plants are:

Bolbitus heudelotii
Anubias barteri var. nana
Riccia fluitans
Nymphaea lotus 'zenkeri'
Cryptocoryne wendtii
Cryptocoryne parva

There is one lonely little neon in the tank that my boss couldn't help but put in there when I wasn't looking. Final inhabitants I plan to have are a small group of minature corys (not sure of species yet), a small school of endlers live bearers / harlequin rasboras / other small pretty unusual mid water fish, and probably a baby pepermint or two (care of Vince :) .

I am currently in the process of trying to obtain some Glossostigma elatinoides to get a small carpet of it started at the front of the tank. If this proves to difficult to get hold of I may tie some riccia down to slate and have a riccia carpet.

Hope you enjoy the lil tank.

Cheers,
Jon

Hi Jon,

Nice to hear from you again.
Can see a bit of Amano influence in that tank.(and the book):p
It is looking good, what is under the gravel?

Hi Brett,

Its nice to be back smile.gif

Amano and the aqua journal mags are a great source of inspiration (also a great way to spend lotsa money hehe !) I thought with this tank I'd stay away from fast growing stem plants and try to go for a more "timely" look with the slow growing plants and large peice of interesting wood.

The gravel doesn't have anything special under it, the bottom 1/3 contains laterite and palm/fern spikes cut up in small bits.

Anyway how are your tanks going ? any new/interestingly aquired plants ? Thinking of trying to source a larger CO2 tank so I can setup a bigger tank again smile.gif

Cheers,
Jon

Yeah thats a nice setup :)

Even got me thinking of setting up planted again :p

Now if only someone could find a source for co2 tanks on the cheap! :(

I did some more investigating on CO2 tanks and I think we are doomed Vince. Found a really reasonably priced Tunze reg/needvalve in 1 unit here which I think I will buy when I can organise a tank:

Apparently these fit straight into the BOC tanks *grr* - maybe that singapore link was our best bet - what was the site again ?

Cheers,
Jon
