I have recently found some of my eletric yellow got some red rash on the the body. I thought they could result from fighting but I'm really not sure. Does anyone have this problem before? The following are taken from my two eletric yellow:

One EY died yesterday and had similiar symptoms.

That doesn't look good sad.gif

kinda hard to tell from the photos, but I'd say if the scales on the red area are missing, it could be from a fight. But if the scales are intact and the redness is protruding from under the scales, then it's some sort of disease or inflammation.
You're not having a good run mate.....

I have removed all the lambardoi from my tank coz they are quite aggressive towards other fish. Hopefully this will help.

I don't know Richard...I have a feeling that due to your recent whitespot problem and shuffling fish around they have probably become quite stressed. That can lead to lower immune system and makes your fish more susceptible to disease.

I would keep a close eye on it, see if it spreads on their body. Do a 25% waterchange every 3 to 4 days, but most of all try and keep their environment as undisturbed as possible. Removing aggressive fish helps. Anything to try and calm them down and get them to their routine again.
Are they eating ok?

Once they get better, try and keep the water stable and just let them be for a few weeks before introducing other fish again. Give them some time to recover.

I hope they get better!!

Hey Simon, I still haven't got those yet. I'm still using geo liquid sad.gif guess I will need to go buy some medicine before the increase in casualties.

I have removed the eel tail catfish from my tank today to ensure the peace after I turn off the night while I sleep.

I can tell the symmtom (of red rash) is spreading to one another EY and it stoppped eating. It is just werid if it is diseases that cause the problem as it only happens to yellow. UMm... don't know what to do and don't know wat I can do since I don't know the problem. I will just keep observing until i can find the problems.

Probably a bactaraemic infection. You need ABs.

I really think you need to state your water parameters before you start medicating anything, it may be due to poor water quality? Always test your water for ph, ammonia, nitrite and nitrates before any medication because some can not be used in certain conditions

Hi krissytool,

Ph 7.8 and nitrate <5ppm due to a recent water change. I just checked out the fish, I think there's a gill infection on the EYs (the gills are red).

hey simon!

>_< 3 of my yellows died. R.I.P.

I think it is partly caused by the electric blue male as well because it takes over 1/3 of the tank! It just keep moving sand around his area and any fish tat try to enter his area will get attacked/chased by him! I guess thats y my yellows were stress out and got owned.

All my fish are back to normal again and now I just hope that I can see the some babies in 2 weeks time tongue.gif lol are you into EB? guess is not your type hey loL

I would be interested to kjnow your tank maintenance schedule given thatr 99% of fish ill healthg is water quality.

1. Tank volume

2. Filtration and turnover

3. Time between water changes

4. Amount of water change.

5. Amount and size of the fish in the tank

6. Time between gravel vacs.

If you can answer the above i can help.
