hi just thought i like to share the filter i currently run on a couple of my tanks, i dont have any pics atm but i have a site which i got my info from

the hamubrg mat filter i currently have on my tank i found to be better then a eheim 2224

ahh ha yes red crayfish that was the site i wanted to find but couldnt find it, well as for parts its not hard to obtain just cable channel i bought from bunnings i think i got 3-4 metres of the stuff for 22$, for foam either go Clark rubber or any LFS price rannge 20-40, silicone 7-8$ and if u really wanted to go crazy with the filter pour in bio balls but it would kinda throw that guys theory out the window haha laugh.gif

what size tanks are you running the filters in +how long for? and are you happy with the results

i have them running on my 24x18x18 tanks and 30x12x14 and results are great did fine handling oscars poop and changing water weekly but that was with a well baterialised foam, i would love to try it on a 4ft tank i know it would work really well hope that helps answer some of ur question

Does any one know if this method would work with a UV powerhead filter or do these remove all bacteria?

it will work fine providing u can plus a hose to the end and poke it through the foam
