Hi everyone,

I figured seeing as I write a million and one posts I should at least introduce myself.

My name is Andrew (obviously) and I moved to thornlie in September last year from Cunderdin in the wheat belt. I was an agriculture teacher/TO at the Ag college there.

I've always bred cattle and shown them at the royal since I could hold a rope. Since I was 17 I've bred show quality game birds, which when I moved I had to sell all my stock. And I've dabbled in a few other species of animals, obviously most farm animals I have a fairly good knowledge on.

Start of last year my partner wanted to get a tank and fish, with in a month we had 3 tanks (2x 4' and a 2') and then downgraded to just one 6' tank (she regrets ever asking to get fish now coz I tend to really involve myself in my hobbies. I wasn't looking to breed when I got into fish however when my first pair of EY bred i was hooked but in Cunderdin it's very hard to do a big setup of fish due to water quality and availability.
When I got rid of my chooks and I saw a few fish setups people had in the city I decided to take up breeding and laid my hands on a few reasonably priced tanks and bought a few colonies here and there and yea that's about it

I currently have your standard run of the mill cichlids but depending on how it goes I plan to expand, but I'm just looking to have a good time breeding the fish I love and hopefully sharing my interest with other people.

Sorry if my endless questions bore people and those questions have been asked before but I feel most people's situations are different and I want to do the best I can by my fish and by the society and ill see people around in the near future.

Hi Andrew,
I'm originally from Thornlie myself, so my condolences mate (joking). I happen to love Electric Yellows, and they are my daughter's favourite fish with brichardi's a close second place. Welcome to the forum and be sure to come to the monthly meetings if you can. Nothing wrong with asking questions too, that's the whole point of the forum, to share and learn from fellow hobbyists.

Cheers,
Jason

I used to live in Manning 15 years ago, back then it was 50% homeswest so my parents got a large house for quite cheap.

Now you can't buy a block of land for under $700k, so I guess thornlie and langford will go up in price by 15 years time. let us only hope. then my house will be workth double, haha.
