To all who is looking to buy you Asian Arrowana take a look at this site.
I personally don't believed in the certificate that all seller are saying, that they have.
Please take a few min to read what is on this site;

I do hope that this will help anyone that is looking for to purchase one, cause there are alot of seller out there that try to sell a red arrowana but it's only a Banja or RTG.
We all work very hard for our money. We don't need to be ripp off.

Just for those that are not aware........

Arowana are not importable into Australia, due to CITES listing (Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species)... Everywhere else in the world, you can trade in Arowana if the fish is micro-chipped and comes with a certificate of its origin (commercial and not wild caught), this is to satisfy CITES.
However.... having an Arowana in Australia with such a certificate just acts as proof that the fish was bred outside Australia and "somehow" swam across the Torres Strait into someones pond in QLD or NT - a smoking gun full of finger prints for AQIS and Customs if they ever get a tip off that you have such a fish in your possession.

Please read the laws before you brag that you have such a fish or similar ones......

For example;

The CITES list
see what freshwater fish are on the list, eg Aussie lungfish, Arapima gigas and arowana.

For those engaging in the importation of such fish, consider this if the certificate is not valid for the fish you have:

303CD Imports of CITES specimens
(1.) A person is guilty of an offence if:
(a.) the person imports a specimen; and
(b.) the specimen is a CITES specimen.
Penalty: Imprisonment for 10 years or 1,000 penalty units, or
both.

Luckily if the certificate is legitimate, then you will only get slugged for illegal importation
You are better off keeping the certificate to prevent a higher penalty, but this certificate will just prove the illegal import of the fish, so you will loose it anyways....
I cannot find the offence and penalty relating to the possession of CITES listed live fish, but that is not of my concern, and not doubt someone will come across it one day, or the Feds will bring it to the attention of those in particular if they get ratted out....

I am not a wowser, just wanting to point out where the line in the sand is that some individuals in this country seem to dance around all too often.... when they get caught, it just creates a bigger hurdle (more paperwork and more restrictions) for legit importers to carry out their business and supply the majority of you all with fish from overseas.

Yes, im happy with what we have at the moment... but there's a huge range of fish around the world...
We only have about 1/3 of whats available for the aquarium trade!!
