Hi

Anyone else keep these fish?

I got one the other day from Aquotix. Only a little fella ~5cm. Nice looking fish.

Don't see them around very often.

One thing I have noticed is that they are a super greedy fish when it comes to food, even at a small size. Apparently a super aggressive fish as they mature. Was thinking of mixing it with some Polleni. I think a tank with all "black/white" fish would look pretty cool.

Cheers,

Alex

For sure Ray.

Hopefully mine ends up looking something like this - http://fishesofaustr...ome/species/690

Meant to change from white to a golden colour as they mature. Be interesting to see the change.

My favorite fish.

Had him from 08 up until the end of last year. When i moved kept him at my old mans house.

When the fish died the ol' boy was hooked on them and got another one this year. Now has a nice 5x2x2 to himself.

Very very aggressive fish even from a young age. Tried to house 2 together only lasted a couple of hours before

the slightly larger one (5cm) beat the crap out of the other one (4cm)

This was my old one IMG_7561c.jpg

Would highly recommend this fish is your looking for something with alot of personality.

cheers zac

Mine was wild caught,

Had no idea what pellets were. So fed on live feeders.

But powered from 3cm to about 10cm or so over 4months,

Then slowed down abit. When he died at about 4-5 years old he was about 25cm

Try not to get it onto live feeders, Mine would eat close to 100 firetail gudgeons over 4 days.

What size tank have you got him?

Mine will eat anything that is thrown into the tank; pellets, prawn, whitebait, fish fillets etc. I never feed any feeders, so absolutely no chance of getting hooked on live food.

in a 5x2x2 with some tinfoiled barbs around the 15cm mark, everything seems to get along fine for now.

Should be a cool fish when it grows.

I went overseas for 2 weeks. Came home at the Grunter has doubled in size. Couldn't believe it. Fed mainly on carni pellets and some frozen foods.
