#342586 Stocking A Nano Tank

Posted by zacy boy on 31 July 2015 - 11:07 AM

hey guys, first time back on the forums in a while. Im back in Perth now for a bit and i have just bought myself one of the 12 gallon Fluval edge tanks that ill be looking to stock.

i plan to set it up as predominantly a shrimp tank, and so im looking to try and track some shrimp down. i know there were some of the rarer colour variations floating around before i packed up the hobby, and so im chasing either some yellows, browns or even blues. But let me know what you have and we can go from there.

ill also be looking for a nice centre piece of driftwood and maybe some anubias nana and some moss varieties, but let me know what you have if you think it may suit and we can go from there.

also if there are any members with Moscow black guppies for sale please let me know as im considering adding some to the tank as well.

on a side note im planning on using Benibachi shrimp soil as the substrate and have managed to track down half a bag (which i think should be enough) dimensions of the tank are 46cm long by 26cm wide roughly.

you can contact me on 0457796068 or PM me here.

thanks guys :)

I'm hoping Freo pull it off this year, last Fridays game against Collingwood was exciting stuff and I'm hoping Ross Lyon has finally got the balance right between his tight defence and being able to kick more goals haha :) I'm pretty confident the WCE will have a good year this year too. providing they can keep injuries to a minimum :P

#311075 I Need Advice From People Who Have Bred Siamese Fighting Fish

Posted by zacy boy on 18 March 2014 - 09:35 AM

hey bud, look up thaity betta on youtube.

https://www.youtube....user/ThaiTyBeta

taught me everything i know and most of his methods worked really well. once i eventually got my betas to breed the hardest part was without a doubt raising the fry.

there are little tips he mentions in his video that i found to be really helpful. for example the use of 5gallon buckets, he explains in the video that the perpetual motion created by swimming in circles is really beneficial to the fish as opposed to square containers in which they can damage themselves chasing each other around.

another tip was the use of styrofoam cups in promoting the male to build his bubble nest. this keeps the temp more stable, and also makes it a little humid, providing optimum conditions for the new born fry.

i haven't bred betas for little over a year so ill probably be a little rusty. any questions though feel free to ask and ill try answer them as best as i can :)

#310727 Slate Caves

Mine Prefer the o. Jack I believe he is referring to the cave opening ;) your caves look great by the way bud :) I have a multiple d slate cave like the ones your making. Common bn's didn't mind it. Peps wouldn't go near it haha.

Great work :)

#309106 Dophin Uv Filter :)

Posted by zacy boy on 23 February 2014 - 08:40 PM

First of all just wanted to say thanks to Oliver for all his help and answering all my questions whilst I decided on a filter for my 6 foot setup. After a bit of deliberation I decided I would give one of the new DoPhin canisters a go. I popped down to Aquotix today to pick it up. And just wanted to say I really am impressed with the quality.

I picked up the UV model as I figured it was better to have it an not need it, rather than to need it and not have it. Plus to be honest, it wasn't that much more expensive which made the decision even easier :P

First thing I was impressed with was the sheer size, this thing is pretty big and looks like it means business :P I couldn't wait to get it home and set it up.

Once everything was up and running I was extremely surprised as to how quiet the filter was, there was hardly any noise and everything was running really smoothly.

Another positive was the water flow coming out, this really impressed me as it created a strong water movement throughout my tank which suits my pepps and other L's.

I'll chuck up a few photos and apologies mods if this is in the wrong section just wanted to put it out to everyone on the forums what a great product it is :)

Thanks again to the guys down at Aquotix, always a pleasure :)

#308466 Schapell Innocent Victim ?

That's your opinion Scottvh. And your entitled to it :)

#308431 Schapell Innocent Victim ?

Posted by zacy boy on 17 February 2014 - 07:01 AM

I think she is innocent, I never understood how you could be so stupid as to try an smuggle a bag of pot the size of a body board in such an obvious way, the bag didn't even have a lock on it........ The next question that came to mind is if you where that stupid which I doubt anyone is, why would you then put the weed in a bag that is designed to allow the pot to breath as most of us would expect to encounter sniffer dogs etc at most airports. I believe the drugs where planted as the bag that was used to store the weed was specifically designed to allow the product to be stored for long periods of time through allowing the bag to essentially breathe.

Not to mention she proclaimed
Her innocence the whole way through and never claimed it was hers when faced with both the firing squad and the possibility of earlier parole.

Whilst I'm sure there are people out there who get away with this kinda stuff every day, in this case I do believe she was innocent.

I have a colony of atleast 8-9 that breed for me every 2-3 weeks and I wouldn't dream of asking that much for them.....

Mainly because I like them too much!! :P :P, sucks when people are just into the hobby to make a quick and usually unreasonable buck.

I think the issue AZ is the fact that legally, power lines that are on private property need to be maintained by the property owner for exactly this reason, whilst I don't agree with the rules that's apparently what they are. There is fair argument against this in the sense that anyone who has a pool has inspectors come around to ensure that the pool and it's area is safe in an effort to avoid drowning. A similar process should be adopted for powerlines inspections where Western Power send an inspector on an agreed basis to ensure that incidents like this can be avoided through the proper maintenance of these powerlines.

At the end of the day, Western power will look for any excuse not to take responsibility for what has happened, and like a dog with a bone, now they have blamed this poor bloke they won't let up.

#303138 Eoi - L134 Available In Perth

Posted by zacy boy on 27 December 2013 - 11:42 AM

Unless he has had a whole heap of casualties there should still be some available as I'm planning on picking up 8-10 once I return from holidays. Best just to send him a pm mate as there are so many jokers out there who will just try rip you off at any chance they get, I know from personal experience chasing 134's a while back, I have had to wait a while for johnnos to get to size but atleast I know I will be getting good quality and healthy fish from a reliable and helpful individual rather than someone just looking to make a quick buck :)
