Please fill out as much as possible below and give us a description of what is wrong with your fish.

Type of fish: Rainbowfish
Symptoms: Sore, broken skin
Other tank mates: Other rainbows, archer fish, geos and bristlenose
Tank size / capacity: 5x3x2
Last water change: Yesterday

Nitrate: about 5

Nitrite: 0

Ammonia: 0

I bought a few rainbowfish and noticed that during the netting stage the rainbowfish had jumped from the bucket. Once in the tank I noticed that there was a sore just before the tail on the smallest rainbow. I'm guessing that it is from the jumping and the only problem is that I am going down south for 3 days Sunday afternoon. I am wondering if I should separate and dose with salt, or my other option was, I was thinking of giving it away to someone who would be able to provide consistant medication etc, someone who has rainbows would be needed so once it heals they can add it to their tank.

Thanks in advance,

David

If you have some melafix catch the little guy and using a small cotton bud apply it directly to the sore on the fish, you can dose the tank as well and leave him to it, few weeks and he should be right as rain :)
