How do you sex gold ocelatus.
Bought 2 today off az and hoping there a pair.

95% of the time , females have a white edging to dorsal fin

anything over 3.5cm is usually male

thise 2 bowdy i think are a pair, the suspected female is alot smalling than that male in the tank and i can see from the 2 that the larger male has a different head shape to the female which is a way i sex them by as well,

head shape should be the same regardless of sex

there is a lot of deformed shellies in Perth

they ( gold occies ) all should have round heads with NO bump between dorsal and eyes. bright pink lips and a deep frown

i would love some but havent seen any worth owning

Vebas has one gold occy, not sure how much for but if you are into your occys you need to take a look at this one (if it is still there) - it is a beauty!
