Just as it got better and better and then i basically thought it was fine.... now something has popped out from behind it... like some sort of red wart... at the top. like it has come out from behind his eye...
it is pretty gross..

he is a fast swimmer so hard to snap a picture i will see what i can do

Something like that but more orange than red and is about the size of a a small stone... or piece of gravel not as big.
I want him tip top for sale and need to treat this asap

His other eye is currently a bit glassy...

at first it was treated as popeye... it since cleared and then 3 days after the symptoms where totally gone this horrid looking thing came out.
I remember my mate saying how good his eye looks now it is back to normal the one day and the next day he actually was the one who noticed this piece of yuk!

any help is appreciated!

I recommend, Lemon and garlic simmered in a shallow bed of hot oil then served with chips!!! biggrin.gif

Sorry man, I have no idea what that is, I thought id just be a smartass!

But Mangrove Jack are still yummy, I caught one 53cm a few months back, tasted great!

Hope he gets better.

I am sorry to say that I cannot offer any help for this form of problem.
It looks like a tumour type growth (I don't know what the cause is, but I will look into it and find out the possibilities), where the only way out is past the eye socket.

I will read up on it over the next few days to see if there are any possibilities for remedial action... it is a rare problem, but considering the value of such a fish, it might be worth trying something.....
I will let you know in a couple of days if I find anything, meanwhile, good luck...

i have bene thinking about just cutting it off....

getting out the surgical equipment..... gently getting in there and snip snip.

will see if it gets bigger or smaller or what happens

Trouble with most tumours and scar tissue is they have a lot of blood flow to it... the fish wont bleed to death, just that it becomes very messy.
I have removed a similar (but much larger) tumour on a goldfish by removing the whole eye..... all I can say is "yuck!" and my guts still turn thinking what I had to do to remove it.. but the fish is still alive today, and happy.

They are "spray on bandaids" basically, it's like a liquid and when it hardens (usually within seconds) it acts like a normal bandaid but it's more flexible and waterproof, its generally meant for areas that are hard to put bandaids on etc fingers, sides of fingernails etc etc

I wouldn't put it on a fish though, it stings like hell when you put it on human skin, broken or unbroken skin!

I'd agree with that... what you see is only the tip of the ice berg.
It seems to be more like a growing tumour that has found and outlet for the excess pressure that is building up. There might be some other internal pressures that could be affecting the brain (guessing here) which could explain the withdrawn character.
Very little you can do (nothing at this stage unless you wish to remove the eye)

Well over night the lump has changed... a transparent 'bag' has popped out that seems to be filled with a fluid... and a bit of white stuff. I will try get some updated pictures and put them up tonight.

I read on another of your posts you have now classified him as "terminally ill". I take it he is getting worse?

maybe i should be taking him off the terminally ill list...
the 'tumour' went white and has now actually broken off the fish and the mass behind his eye seems to be reducing in size.

Will try and get some recent pictures
