Sorry I can't help with marine stuff. Just setting up a new fresh water system.
But you may have to wait a while for a reply as it sounds like all the boys are being interrupted by there better halves, or at least dreaming about being interrupted!

Why do you have to breed what you keep in there ? I have read its very hard to breed marine.
Cheers.

Make sure you read a lot before you start.

Marine tanks can be quite $$ so you don't want to make too many mistakes smile.gif

I started my first marine with advice from Vebas and Seaview! From there it was a huge learning experience, every time something went wrong I had to fix it! It's not hard, people make out its super difficult but in reality it's pretty simple.. The things you'll need to think about are :
Salt water : where are you going to get it? How much will you need? How will you store SW?
Flow : You'll need plenty of flow in your tank so how will you achieve it?
Livestock : what are you going to put in there?
Lighting : coral needs sunlight or an artificial light that will mimic the sun smile.gif

I'd say bugger learning everything that is going into your tank just get a handle on the basics and go for it smile.gif

Cheers

David wants me to make the $$ back not to mention I'm stealing one of his breeding tanks ... I'm gonna give myself 6 months to save up and learn about them and yea I go to vebas alot but I ask questions and i get alot of eyes rolling coz I don't know alot at all and I ask them what would be simple answers for them but complex for me that's why I joined here David learnt alot so I thought I'd do the same ..

Thanks for the info guys

I hate to say it but you'll never make back the $$ spent on a marine tank... It's just another one of those projects you keep pouring money into.. smile.gif

i would suggest nice couple of clown fish a pair that have formed a bond .they are hardy fish and if happy and in right conditions they will breed.but rearing them
is a whole different matter!.high mortality rate first few days 90% will probably die.the fry need to eat rotifers and newly hatched brine shrimp.and u would need 3 small tanks for the process .marine is as easy as u make it .just keep it simple!

With a tank that size you could possibly try growing some soft coral like Xenia, it's easy to grow and frag (cut into bits) and may be a way to subsidise your tank costs smile.gif

You can buy RO water from some LFS. Top up using RO water (won't change your hardness)
