Hi All,

Since I started with my fish I have been trying to figure out what exactly I like about fish ie whether it be breading them, or their behaviour or just the natural look of them in their habbitats. I came to the conclusion not long ago that it was the look of natural habitats and growing planted spaces for these fish.

Any way my point,

I want to set up some heavily planted tanks, like the amazing ones in vebus.

I was looking in the pic section of this website and found it really difficult to find pics of members tanks that have tried this. I would love to know what people have done in the way of creating a beautiful tank.

Could anyone with planted tanks please post pics here

I would really love to see them as I need inspiration

Hi Elle,

Apologies if you have already seen this site. It shows some extraordinary tanks from the 2000-2008 Aquatic Gardeners Contests. What I like about it is that you can find out the names of the plants in each tank, choose a tank size you are interested in, and also read a critique of each tank which enables you to reflect on the aspects of design that work in a 3D space. Technical details regarding nutrients, additives etc are also given for each tank.

The disadvantage of course is that the people aren't local and it isn't easy to speak to them, however, some of them have an email address and are happy to answer questions.

Here my small tank



To embarrassed to post up the 90 gallon Discus tank as I am having trouble getting it up to scratch.

IMO There is a big trade of between keeping Your favorite fish in a tank EG (Clown loaches, pleco's ) as these would destroy a nice bed of HC or Glosso.

There IS not a more fearful sight than a large pleco munging on your single stem of Pogo

Best to start small And decide whether you want an aquarium for "pets" or Tanks/Racks for breeding OR a Planted/Aquascaped show piece.

I think it is better to start small with planted nano tanks,,, have a small bio load of fish till you get use to Lighting,, CO2 and Fert's ,,,,Cause plants are defiantly more forgiving then livestock.
